The Sicane lands are places full of history that tell the story of the succession and mixing of the peoples who have lived here over the centuries:
cultural stratifications that time has sedimented, harmonizing different cultures and traditions: an ancient Sicily that reaches us, giving us the thousand suggestions of a Mediterranean civilization with solid foundations. An itinerary that starts from the sea to reach the hills, in the footsteps of the Punic, Greek and Arab navigators who came from the sea, falling in love with these lands. The Elymian and Sicanian archaeological areas of Entella and Adranone and the Greek, Roman, Punic and Byzantine testimonies kept in the museum of Palazzo Panitteri and in the Antiquarium of Entella tell this long story. The Saracen alleys of Sambuca di Sicilia, the Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco in Contessa Entellina, the monumental ruins of Montevago, places where you can get lost in time, fascinate and surprise. The imposing Palazzo Filangeri Cutò in Santa Margherita di Belice, where Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa lived and set the Leopard here, the Saracen tower of Porto Palo and the Norman Castle of the Luna Counts, conquer with their grandeur, the foundations of a still living past that can be found in the churches and palaces, in the engaging pagan and religious festivals, in the popular songs and in the precious craftsmanship, in the artistically colourful ceramics as well as in the woven palm artefacts and lace that still adorn the rooms and
tables of these lands.
