Every day, winter or summer, Vittorio’s children send greetings via Instagram: sometimes a stretch of Blue Flag sea, sometimes a sea lily on the sand dunes close to the restaurant, other times the fish just delivered from nearby Porto Palo or from Sciacca. The entire world of this man from Bergamo, who arrived in Menfi in the ’60s, is all here: a restaurant on the beach, some rooms upstairs, his wife, children and grandchildren who move back and forth, between the dining room and the kitchen. The cellar is excellent, there are many Sicilian wines, but also Champagne and Riesling. The cuisine is primarily seafood, but also meat, that Vittorio knew just as well in his previous life as a butcher in Lombardy. The location completes this perfect scenario: the dining room with windows overlooking the sea, a few tables outside, a little stretch of sandy shore where you can rent a deckchair and a beach umbrella. On clear days, from the base of this Robinson Crusoe – as they call Vittorio in the village – you can see the island of Pantelleria.
